Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service provides quality health care to the Hornsby
Ku-ring-gai area, a community in Sydney, Australia. The area we cover stretches from the Hawkesbury River to Roseville, east to St Ives
and west to Pennant Hills, Cherrybrook and Epping. Our facilities include Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital and six community health centres.
As a respected provider of care since 1933,
the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital is a major metropolitan hospital, and is a teaching hospital of the University of Sydney. It has over 18,000 admissions per
year, almost 30,000 presentation to the Emergency Department annually, and more than 1500 staff members who care for over a quarter of a million people living in the
Hornsby Ku-ring-gai area. We place an enormous value on our strong connections with our consumers and community. Our innovative care
programs are higly regarded and the health service has the maximum four-year accreditation from the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards. You can read more about us on the
HKHS Website.
Our hospital campus is located near the Ku-ring-gai National Park which offers some spectacular scenery and a variety of bush walking trails.
The hospital is based near the F3 motor way which links Sydney with the Central Coast via a 45 minute drive.
Many staff commute on the motorway from the Central Coast to work at HKH. The hospital is located 30
minutes from some of Sydney's most appealing beaches. Easy access to major metropolitan train lines is available.
Our new Hornsby Obstetrics, Paediatrics and Emergency (HOPE) building was completed in November 2006. Patients, community and staff are
all enjoying the bright, spacious environment which was designed to provide a safer and more comfortable journey for patients.
Since the opening of the new building, the new Maternity Unit has seen a significant increase in births and the number of presentations
to the Emergency Department has jumped considerably from around 22,000 to nearly 30,000 in the last 12 months. In spite of increased
presentations, patients presenting to the Emergency Department are being seen quicker with Hornsby Ku-ring-gai being one of the best performers in NSW in terms of access, triage and off stretcher times.
