About Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO / PGY3+) positions at HKHS

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital offers an excellent range of terms for SRMOs. Rotations can be tailored to suit most speciality pathways such as Critical Care, Emergency, Basic Physician Training, Psychiatry, Paediatrics and General Practice.

SRMOs rotate through four or five terms, depending on the terms they wish to do. SRMOs can do any of the terms offered for PGY2 if they have a particular interest in a speciality.

Six months attachments can be arranged for RACGP candidates wishing to undertake special skills training.

A critical care SRMO year consists of 3 months ICU, 3 months Anaesthetics, 3 months Emergency and 3 months of either Cardiology or Respiratory.

A typical General Practice year would include rotations in General Practice Unit, Emergency, Paediatrics (at Westmead Kids), General Medicine or Psychiatry and a relief term (where you would be encouraged to take leave).
