General Resident Pool:

The new Hornsby Obstetrics, Paediatrics and Emergency building, view towards Paediatrics. Click to see larger image More than 50% of junior medical staff at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital form the “general pool”. The “general pool” is made up of Interns (allocated by IMET), PGY2s (in-quota), PGY2s (out of quota) and SRMOs. Staff in the “general pool” move through a variety of rotations dependent on their individual interests and their preferences for career development.

Vacancies for 2009- PGY2 (RMO1) and Senior RMOs

Interns (PGY1)

Interns are allocated to the Prevocational Network by IMET and would undertake rotations that will make them eligible for full registration with the NSW Medical Board.

PGY2 (Resident Medical Officer Year 1) "In-Quota"

In-Quota PGY2s are NSW or Interstate graduates who have completed their internship in NSW. IMET sets a “quota” or “Network” number of local graduates that we can offer positions to.

PGY2 (Resident Medical Officer Year 1) "Out-of-Quota"

Out-of-Quota PGY2s include interstate/NZ PGY1s, local AMCs, interstate AMCs and British graduates.

Senior Resident Medical Officers (PGY3+)

SRMOs are graduates in their 3rd or more postgraduate year who wish to undertake a generalist year.
